Back Draft Awaits You...
Enter BackDraft...
In the beginning BackDraft Isle housed numerous forms of life. These life forms co-existed on the Isle without war or violence. Sure there would be scraps from time to time, but never like this… They came in swarms and descended upon the Shrine that held the beliefs and culture of each of the species who lived there. The swarms of beasts later found out to be demonic canines where known as “The Invaders”. They ravaged the lands, killing, battling. Finally the shrine keepers had had enough!
The elder dragon keepers would fight, this time there would not be mercy, simply discipline; or at least that is what they hoped. This battle almost cracked the Isle in half! The power that was generated from the final attack; launched by the Elder Shrine Protector, Kronos, caused the length of the Isle and about 50 miles wide to be plunged into eternal darkness. Still this final attack did not defeat their leader; Kain. He escaped before the final blast hit. Now he would wait for his next attack.
Meanwhile the call for help from the failing city of the Drow called the "Protectors"; winged wolves that where lead by their fearless leader, Able. These creatures stood for all that was right, all that was just, and back then, they would settle in a secret valley hidden away in the Ice Enclave awaiting Kain’s evil to appear once more from their hiding spot with in the Great Volcano of the Maga Plains.
This hidden isle of sacred kin once held its secrecy above the wind, and in the hearts of all who lived..
not a single doubt was ever bred.
Until the night of pitch blood spilled
The creatures harmony had dimmed
As the invaders came with in
Their one goal: See all kill all
Let none survive, but if they do keep them alive
Only to use them as dirt movers, slaves
"The sign of redemption, the hand of judgment comes! Free these creatures of ancient song!"
And so it was written that the winged ones came...

The desolate, barren wasteland seemed to be the most unpredictable of places that she had ever arrived in. Forget the Junkyard, with its rows of rusting scrap metal, and so-called gangs that were skinny and underfed yet acted all tough. Being partly vivid pink was not the greatest of advantages, let alone here, of all places. She stood out like a... bright pink beacon. No wonder there was about five magpies circling overhead.
Her lips pursed grimly as she padded across the malnourished terrain, the dry earth cracking beneath her feet. Ugly landscapes like this just made you want to randomly start digging a hole to make it uglier, and also perhaps if you dug deep enough, to hide it from view. Her very presence seemed to make it unattractive, the brightness of her coat emphasizing the fact that she very clearly didn't belong here. Then again, pink didn't really belong anywhere.
Pale yellow eyes scoured the scenery with distaste, searching for any intelligent-looking being such as herself. For once, she'd actually be happy to converse. It was better than feeling like a scarecrow with all the birds stalking her on the wing. After a few minutes, she spotted what seemed to be the large form of Diiu. The wench came to a standstill, gazing into the distance curiously. It was him, alright. With heavily-pierced ears, matted white mane and one red eye, he stood out almost as much as she did. Her gaze shifted, and settled upon what was sat next to the male on the rock. Not entirely sure what was afoot, the female began to lope forwards towards the two.
As she came within range, she heard the words spoken, "You think I couldn't, huh? Don't be so sure!" She slowed down, continuing silently towards them. Though she was unsure whether the other male had sensed her coming, as she was approaching from behind, she was aware that Diiu probably would be. A few seconds later, a snarl punctuated the tension clouding the air. Her fur rippled in response, eyes narrowing. Now merely within a few metres of them, she slunk round the edge of the rock, purring, "Why so aggressive?" Then, she abruptly sat down, squinting at them.

Diiu's loyal nose soon found a stray scent. A cowarding female that approutched in short bursts along the edge of his vision. He had noted an old friend, Meridien, she had come in with her purr that sounded like sickly sweet to his ears. But that scent is what caught his muse. If this female was so afraid of being caught, wouldn't she have moved out of the range of the monster's vision and smell? This sounded and felt like a dare, which Diiu was good at nabbing...

Crosshatch had barely had time to acknowledge the first female, when a second one arrived. Well, this day just kept getting better and better. Nosy interlopers, the both of them. Then again, Crosshatch hadn't planned on running into Diiu, either. That had been happenstance at best. But it didn't matter, as neither of these females looked like they had anywhere to be. Perfect. And who did this female think she was, strutting in with a snarl and a purr?! Was he supposed to be impressed? Ho, not likely!
"I don't know you," he said, his eyes thinning. "And frankly, I don't care to." Honestly, who was she to question his attitude? He'd been harboring ill will all his life, ever since his father had stripped him of all that was good. Once, Crosshatch had known compassion. Once, he might have been open with these females. And he wouldn't have thought of crossing the likes of Diiu. But traumatic changes had altered his take on things. No longer did he know joy or happiness, unless it was while he was taking the life of an innocent. These words, otherwise, were meaningless to him. The happy youth from before had ceased to be.
He glared at Meridien, and then he pivoted to snatch another glance at the other female. A skulker, huh? Taking her sweet time, was she? That was almost as irritating as facing these other two. Why didn't she come forward? What did she hope to gain by watching? Crosshatch was tempted to drag her before the group, if she wouldn't come forward herself. But before he could do anything, the other female backpedaled. And she ran, the coward. Crosshatch sniffed and turned, not wanting to waste the energy chasing her down. Who wanted to wet their fangs on a coward's blood?
One down. That left the massive Diiu and this other female. Did they know each other?
"Don't snarl at me, and don't tell me how to act," he growled. He was still put off with her demanding nature. He was raised to be aggressive. All the members of the Karawan clan were. They were, after all, a pack of killers and thieves. And he was the son of the alpha, so he'd come from the best.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, studying the unfamiliar male with an impassive expression. She could now see why Diiu was evidently having some trouble with him. Arrogance never mixed well with a demeanour such as hers; it brought her blood to the boil, and a muscle clenched in her jaw, longing to snap at his exposed throat. "Congratulations, I don't know you either. But as you so kindly decided upon bothering Diiu for no apparent reason, I wouldn't like to either. Watch your mouth, dear." Flinted yellow eyes studied him, the threat already haven been given, yet it was not an empty one. Her fur was abruptly prickling as he continued, clearly too blind behind the size of his ego to notice that no one else happened to be taking his side. "Big words for such a small mind. I would return that favour, love, if you did the same."
